GCSAR members load a victim with a broken ankle into a private chopper. She was 8 miles into the Indian Peaks Wilderness. A ground evac with several technical river crossings would have required massive effort. This team spent a rainy night with the 250 pound patient.

Operations Commander on Crater Lake Mission, August 2000. This was the second evac from the same area in two days. Crater Lake is about 8 miles into the Indian Peaks Wilderness on a rugged trail.

St. A's Flight for Life comes in for a landing. Our patient took a 40 foot fall while climbing Lone Eagle Peak (background). Injuries included a broken leg and ribs. The mechanism for more serious internal injuries was present.

Another picture of the chopper with Lone Eagle Peak in the background. The LZ is about 3/4 mile below Crater Lake where the field team spent the night bivouced with the patient.

GCSAR members assisted Rocky Mountain National Park rangers in July, 1998 when a girl was washed over Cascade Falls and sustained moderate injuries. Here an anchor is set for a tyrolean (highline) to get the patient across the creek.
