Letter reference Bob Lake evac, 7/29/00 - (see photo on photo page)

October, 2000

Dear John (John was the first rescuer on scene)

Thank you for your quick ascent on Rollins Pass to retrieve me from the snowfield on July 29th.
I'm at my 3rd week of work and all is going well.
I'll be on crutches for another 3 weeks and the heart Dr. doesn't want to see me for 3 months.
I look forward to meeting you again, but on less critical situations.

Letter reference Columbine Lake evac, 7/10/97

August 19, 1997

Dear friends,

It's hard to believe it has been over a month since my hiking accident by Columbine Lake and the surgery in Denver. I'm very thankful to be alive and at home in Minnesota healing with family and friends. Your team is largely responsible for saving my life, and for that I am most grateful to you all.

Since our stay in Colorado after the accident was so brief, I did not have an opportunity to express my sincere thanks to you all personally for your care and expertise orchestrating the rescue operation. You are to be commended for the work work you were able to accomplish as a team of volunteers pulling together to save a life - my life.

I know that being a member of the Grand County Search and Rescue team is not a paid position - but a challenging volunteer opportunity. That in itself tells me that each and every one of you are part of that team because of your care and concern for others.

God touched us through many people during my recent mountain-top trauma and surgery. As we returned home He continued to strengthen and uplift us through the love and care of others. "So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith." (Galatians 6:10)

Sincerely,
Kathy S.
